Have you ever thought about where modern photography came from? We are now moving into the digital age and away from film, but the lighting and photography techniques we use today first appeared in the 1820s. Niepce and Daguerre are known as the first inventors of modern photography. They used a chemical component from silver and chalk, which darkens when exposed to light. This type of technology used a glass negative to fix the picture.

We started with early cameras in western films, and now we use manual cameras with film. The image was captured on a film or negative that was wound onto a roll. This was then developed in a dark room to avoid over-exposure. The manual cameras used a theory to set up shots. To take the best pictures, you had to understand aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and metering. This meant you spent a lot of time getting ready to take the photo and had to be a professional to catch wildlife as they usually are.

The size of the hole through which light passes is measured in f-stops. It's also important to focus and set the depth of field when you're setting the aperture on your camera. You have to know what numbers will let more light into the lens, and what numbers to avoid to prevent over-exposure and blurriness.  Shutter speed is the amount of time the lens is open for the picture to be taken. You may have noticed that in a dark room without a flash, your camera takes a while to take the picture. This is because the light is low and the camera must adjust for the lack of light. If there is not enough light, you need to keep the film exposed for longer to take the picture. On the other hand, if there is more light, the shutter will move more quickly.

We started using automatic cameras instead of manual ones. The camera became lighter. The camera settings were set to make the shutter speed and aperture work automatically. ISO became important. ISO is the film speed. Rather than spending a long time getting the shot ready, you just had to choose the right setting and press and hold the button to focus. Many cameras came with automatic settings, but also had manual options for people who still liked to treat photography as an art.

Digital cameras are the latest thing in photography.  Now we can see the picture we take without using film and negatives. We can send the pictures to all of our friends and use our home printers to make prints. Photography has changed a lot. In the past, only a few people could take perfect photos because they had the right skills. Now, anyone can take pictures.

But this doesn't mean that photography and photographers will disappear. Taking professional-grade photographs still requires high quality. If you're using a digital camera, it's still important to be aware of how sensitive it is to light. If you don't spend more money, you'll probably find that the quality of your photographs isn't as good as it could be. The way the photo is taken depends on the lighting, which can be natural or artificial. You might want to know how to take a photograph in a dark room, like the one in a museum, to share with your friends and family. If you know about old ways of taking photos, you can take perfect digital photos. Photography started with a few people, but we can now see how far it has come thanks to the inventions they made.
