Here are some tips for taking photos of your cat
Every cat is proud of its friendly feline. Cats are the perfect subjects for photography. If you know how to take pictures of your cat, you can get some great shots of them in all sorts of interesting and fun poses. If you fancy taking some snaps of your cat, here are a few tips to help you get the best shots.
Keep an eye out for your cat when they're out of the house.
Nothing beats a cat taking a nap – they're so relaxing! Cats sleep a lot, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to take a picture of them napping. The best time to take a pic of your cat is when it's asleep. You can take close-ups of your cat either as it sleeps or wake it up for a relaxed look. If you want a nice shot of your cat, try gently rubbing its belly just as you want to take the picture. This'll get your cat to roll onto its back.
Let's talk about natural sunlight.
So, when you think of a cat sleeping, where do most cats like to sleep? You can usually find a cat having a nap in the sun. If you've got a window that gets full or filtered sunlight during the day, then try opening the curtains or blinds to encourage cap napping. When you see your cat sitting in the sun, try to take a few pictures. When the sun is shining, try taking a few shots without using the flash. This will make your picture look all natural and glowing. Also, natural light often works best anyway because if you use a bright flash, your cat will usually close his or her eyes, or the eyes could end up looking red.
Don't worry about how things look or how to get there.
Cats are much better at posing. You can't really ask a cat to stay and sit. When you're snapping pics of your cat, keep your camera ready for those candid shots. Have a look at your cat during the day and see what its routine and favourite spots are. If you work around your cat, you'll get better pictures. Try to be spontaneous, and above all stay patient. It might take a few goes to get a couple of great shots, but it's rare that posing your cat works.
I've tried to get my three cats to pose and let me take a picture, but even though they sleep, play and stand or sit next to each other, they can't stand or sit next to each other without someone starting something. If I had three people to help and set back out of the picture, it might work. As you can see, cats just do their own thing, so it's best to let them take your pictures in their own unique way.
If you need a hand, just let me know.
Another good tip for taking pictures of your cat is to get help. You can get some great photos of cats and kittens playing around by having someone help you wiggle a string, throw a ball or call the cat's name. It's pretty tricky to try and play with your cat and take pictures at the same time. You'll get way better pictures if you get someone to help you. Also, if you're trying to get a pic of your cat looking straight at the camera, get someone to stand above you, call the cat's name or make a noise to get it to look up.
If you're a patient and willing, you can get some great shots of your cat. Cats are great for taking pictures because you never know what they'll do next. Make sure your camera is ready to go as soon as your cat springs into action. It's as if cats' usual activity makes us smile and laugh, and their antics always make for great photos. Some great photos can also be taken of kittens playing from the moment they're born. If you've got a camera, you'll always be ready to take the perfect shot.
